There are 21 suicides per day in Indonesia

In 2008 around 7,687 suicides occurred in Indonesia, 104 more than in 2007. In 2008, on average 21 Indonesians committed suicide every day.

Indonesia reported 3.33 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Indonesia, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 7,687 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 5,558 were men suicides and 2,129 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.64 per 100,000 men and for women 1.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Indonesia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,372 homicides in Indonesia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.6 suicides.
