Number of suicides increases in Iceland

In 1984 around 44 suicides occurred in Iceland, 4 more than in 1983.

Iceland reported 18.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 15.98 suicides per 100,000 people.

Iceland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 44 recorded suicide cases in 1984, 37 were men suicides and 7 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 30.7 per 100,000 men and for women 5.9 per 100,000 female.
