In 1999 occurred 11,157 suicides in Germany. This year, 487 fewer people committed suicide than in 1998. In 1999, on average 31 Germans committed suicide every day.

Germany had 13.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 14.31 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Germany is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 11,157 recorded suicide cases in 1999, 8,080 were men suicides and 3,077 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.2 per 100,000 men and for women 7.3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Germany suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,326 homicides in Germany, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.4 suicides.
