There are 34 suicides per day in Germany

In 1997 around 12,265 suicides occurred in Germany, 40 more than in 1996. In 1997, on average 34 Germans committed suicide every day.

Germany reported 15 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 14.89 suicides per 100,000 people.

Germany is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 12,265 recorded suicide cases in 1997, 8,841 were men suicides and 3,424 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 22.1 per 100,000 men and for women 8.1 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Germany suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,800 homicides in Germany, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.8 suicides.
