In 2009 around 290 suicides occurred in Georgia, 74 more than in 2008.
Georgia reported 6.54 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 290 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 229 were men suicides and 61 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.86 per 100,000 men and for women 2.62 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Georgia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 210 homicides in Georgia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
