By 2008, suicides in Estonia increased by 11 people to at 242 suicides

In Estonia there were 18.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 242 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 189 were men suicides and 53 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 30.3 per 100,000 men and for women 7.4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 86 homicides in Estonia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.8 suicides.
