In 2015 around 2,368 suicides occurred in Egypt, 41 more than in 2014. In 2015, on average 6 Egyptians committed suicide every day.

Egypt reported 2.66 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Egypt, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 2,368 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 1,716 were men suicides and 652 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.47 per 100,000 men and for women 1.35 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Egypt suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,711 homicides in Egypt, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
