El Salvador - Intentional self-harm

In 2015 occurred 678 suicides in El Salvador. This year, 17 fewer people committed suicide than in 2014. In El Salvador, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

El Salvador had 10.88 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.47 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 678 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 527 were men suicides and 151 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.89 per 100,000 men and for women 4.67 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in El Salvador. However, in El Salvador in 2015 there were there were 6,656 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 9.8 homicides per suicide.
