In Cuba there were 13.13 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 1,480 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 1,150 were men suicides and 331 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.41 per 100,000 men and for women 5.86 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cuba suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 515 homicides in Cuba, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.9 suicides.
