Croatia has a very high suicide rate

By 1999, suicides in Croatia increased by 40 people to at 989 suicides On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

In Croatia there were 21.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.31 suicides per 100,000 people.

Croatia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 989 recorded suicide cases in 1999, 716 were men suicides and 273 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 33 per 100,000 men and for women 11.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Croatia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 111 homicides in Croatia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.9 suicides.
