Chile has a low suicide rate

In 1986 around 655 suicides occurred in Chile, 28 less than in 1985. In Chile, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Chile reported 5.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.39 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Chile has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 655 recorded suicide cases in 1986, 533 were men suicides and 122 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.8 per 100,000 men and for women 2 per 100,000 female.
