Chile has a low suicide rate

In 1982 occurred 646 suicides in Chile. This year, 5 fewer people committed suicide than in 1981. In Chile, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Chile had 5.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.68 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Chile has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 646 recorded suicide cases in 1982, 563 were men suicides and 83 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.9 per 100,000 men and for women 1.4 per 100,000 female.
