In Cameroon there were 12.15 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 2,405 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 1,845 were men suicides and 560 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.2 per 100,000 men and for women 5.76 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cameroon suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,277 homicides in Cameroon, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
