In Cabo Verde there were 8.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 38 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 25 were men suicides and 13 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.65 per 100,000 men and for women 5.22 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cabo Verde suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 21 homicides in Cabo Verde, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.8 suicides.
