Bulgaria reported 11.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 868 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 662 were men suicides and 206 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.3 per 100,000 men and for women 5.4 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 150 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.8 suicides.
