Bulgaria reported 18.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 14.84 suicides per 100,000 people.
Bulgaria has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,503 recorded suicide cases in 1998, 1,055 were men suicides and 448 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.2 per 100,000 men and for women 10.6 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 381 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.9 suicides.
