In 2008 around 322 suicides occurred in Azerbaijan, 21 more than in 2007.

Of the 322 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 264 were men suicides and 58 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.06 per 100,000 men and for women 1.28 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Azerbaijan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 192 homicides in Azerbaijan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
