In October, vehicle registrations in Austria grew by 0.57% with respect to October of 2013. In total, 30,655 cars were registered and 348,405 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 1.99% less than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of October is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 3,710, 0.78% less than in October of 2013.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 26,945, which represents a figure of 0.76% more than in October of 2013.
Austria is the 29th-placed country in ranking of 135 countries based on number of vehicle registrations.
A very useful variable for estimating the level of economic wealth enjoyed by Austrians residents, when compared to the other countries in the ranking, is the number of vehicles sold or registered per thousand residents in the last year. With annual sales of 40.95 cars per 1,000 residents, 3.6 of them in the last month, Austria, occupies 14th place in the ranking.
As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has grown in the last year. The increase in this figure is positive, as it generally indicates improved public confidence in the country's economy.
Changes in Austrian vehicle registration numbers are shown in the tables below. Sales have grown since 2004, as 343,045 were produced that year although there has been a drop in the number of registrations per thousand residents, which that year numbered 42.13.
