In 2017, the national minimum wage in Turkey remained fixed at 479.5 € per month, that is 5,754 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Turkish liras, which is the official currency in Turkey, we can see that, this year, it was 1,777.5 Turkish liras and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 130.5 Turkish liras per month from the previous year, 7.92%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2016 which was 8.5%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
