In 2008, the national minimum wage in Ireland remained fixed at €1,461.9 per month, that is 17,543 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

Accordingly the national minimum wage has been raised 59.2 Euros per month from the previous year, 4.22%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2007 which was 4.6%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
