The national minimum wage increase in India

In 2008, the national minimum wage in India remained fixed at €36 per month, that is 432 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Indian rupees, which is the official currency in India, we can see that, this year, it was 2,080 Indian rupees and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 364 Indian rupees per month from the previous year, 21.21%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2007 which was 5.5%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, India is in 80 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 90 of the list.
