The minimum wage goes up in Australia

In 2006, the national minimum wage in Australia remained fixed at €1,309.3 per month, that is 15,712 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Australian dollars, which is the official currency in Australia, we can see that, this year, it was 2,109.1 Australian dollars and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 40.8 Australian dollars per month from the previous year, 1.97%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2005 which was 2.8%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Australia is one of the countries with the highest minimum salary of the 81 of the list.
