Since November 2006, the national minimum wage in Argentina remained fixed at €203.6 per month, that is 2,443 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Argentinian pesos, which is the official currency in Argentina, we can see that, this year, it was 800 Argentinian pesos and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 20 Argentinian pesos per month from the previous year, 2.56%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2006 which was 12.3%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
