In 2019 Iran public debt was 248,493 million euros278,188 million dollars, has increased 99,818102,602 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 47.86% of Iran GDP, a 9.39 percentage point rise from 2018, when it was 38.47% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Iran debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 35,990 million euros 50,199 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 12.11%.
According to the last data point published, Iran per capita debt in 2019 was 2,984 euros3,341 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 1,805 euros 2,132 dollars, afterwards rising by 1,179 euros1,209 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 492 euros686 dollars .
The position of Iran, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 84 in the list of debt to GDP and 102 in debt per capita, out of the 189 we publish.
