In 2016 Iran public debt was 119,164 million euros 131,902 million dollars, has decreased 23,892 26,818 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 35% of Iran GDP, a 7.41 percentage point fall from 2015, when it was 42.41% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Iran debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 25,587 million euros 32,127 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 12.46%.
According to the last data point published, Iran per capita debt in 2016 was 1,484 euros1,643 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 1,803 euros 2,000 dollars, afterwards dropping by 319 euros 357dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 363 euros456 dollars .
The position of Iran, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 56 in the list of debt to GDP and 80 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
