In 2016 Iran public debt was 178,681 million euros 197,782 million dollars, has increased 37,77741,449 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 48.89% of Iran GDP, a 7.24 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 41.65% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Iran debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 25,587 million euros 32,127 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 11.89%.
According to the last data point published, Iran per capita debt in 2016 was 2,221 euros2,458 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 1,773 euros 1,967 dollars, afterwards rising by 448 euros491 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 363 euros456 dollars .
The position of Iran, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 90 in the list of debt to GDP and 92 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
