In 2019 Iran public debt was 248,524 million euros278,223 million dollars, has increased 99,713102,477 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 47.86% of Iran GDP, a 9.39 percentage point rise from 2018, when it was 38.47% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Iran debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 36,083 million euros 50,329 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 12.11%.
According to the last data point published, Iran per capita debt in 2019 was 2,985 euros3,341 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 1,807 euros 2,134 dollars, afterwards rising by 1,178 euros1,207 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 493 euros688 dollars .
The position of Iran, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 80 in the list of debt to GDP and 100 in debt per capita, out of the 190 we publish.
