In 2008 Greece public debt was 264,775 million euros389,376 million dollars, has increased 24,86060,539 million since 2007.
This amount means that the debt in 2008 reached 109.4% of Greece GDP, a 6.3 percentage point rise from 2007, when it was 103.1% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Greece debt. It has risen since 1998 in global debt terms, when it was 126,131 million euros 140,919 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 97.4%.
According to the last data point published, Greece per capita debt in 2008 was 23,865 euros35,096 dollars per inhabitant. In 2007 it was 21,690 euros 29,730 dollars, afterwards rising by 2,175 euros5,366 dollars, and if we again check 1998 we can see that then the debt per person was 11,736 euros13,112 dollars .
The position of Greece, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2008 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 180 in the list of debt to GDP and 181 in debt per capita, out of the 188 we publish.
