In 2016 El Salvador public debt was 14,412 million euros 15,948 million dollars, has increased 732768 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 59.51% of El Salvador GDP, a 1.24 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 58.27% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of El Salvador debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 5,776 million euros 7,253 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 39.1%.
According to the last data point published, El Salvador per capita debt in 2016 was 2,271 euros2,514 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 2,167 euros 2,405 dollars, afterwards rising by 104 euros109 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 953 euros1,197 dollars .
The position of El Salvador, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 117 in the list of debt to GDP and 97 in debt per capita, out of the 184 we publish.
