In 2017 El Salvador public debt was 14,863 million euros 17,476 million dollars, has increased 572694 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 67.07% of El Salvador GDP, a 0.25 percentage point fall from 2017, when it was 67.32% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of El Salvador debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 5,578 million euros 8,412 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 46.77%.
According to the last data point published, El Salvador per capita debt in 2018 was 2,305 euros2,722 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 2,258 euros 2,550 dollars, afterwards rising by 47 euros172 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 934 euros1,374 dollars .
The position of El Salvador, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 135 in the list of debt to GDP and 96 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
