In 2017 El Salvador public debt was 14,925 million euros 16,853 million dollars, has increased 567964 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 67.94% of El Salvador GDP, a 1.49 percentage point rise from 2016, when it was 66.45% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of El Salvador debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 5,578 million euros 7,646 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 44.95%.
According to the last data point published, El Salvador per capita debt in 2017 was 2,340 euros2,642 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 2,263 euros 2,504 dollars, afterwards rising by 77 euros138 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 918 euros1,258 dollars .
The position of El Salvador, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 137 in the list of debt to GDP and 97 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
