In 2019 El Salvador public debt was 17,126 million euros19,174 million dollars, has increased 1,631867 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 70.96% of El Salvador GDP, a 0.87 percentage point rise from 2018, when it was 70.09% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of El Salvador debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 6,211 million euros 8,653 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 49.16%.
According to the last data point published, El Salvador per capita debt in 2019 was 2,654 euros2,971 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 2,413 euros 2,851 dollars, afterwards rising by 241 euros120 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,009 euros1,405 dollars .
The position of El Salvador, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 138 in the list of debt to GDP and 94 in debt per capita, out of the 189 we publish.
