In 2021 Costa Rica public debt was 37,135 million euros43,927 million dollars, has increased 5092,187 million since 2020.
This amount means that the debt in 2021 reached 68.34% of Costa Rica GDP, a 1.17 percentage point rise from 2020, when it was 67.17% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Costa Rica debt. It has risen since 2011 in global debt terms, when it was 9,077 million euros 12,620 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 29.51%.
According to the last data point published, Costa Rica per capita debt in 2021 was 7,169 euros8,480 dollars per inhabitant. In 2020 it was 7,142 euros 8,140 dollars, afterwards rising by 27 euros340 dollars, and if we again check 2011 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,968 euros2,736 dollars .
The position of Costa Rica, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2021 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 119 in the list of debt to GDP and 133 in debt per capita, out of the 190 we publish.
