In 2019 Costa Rica public debt was 32,463 million euros36,342 million dollars, has increased 5,0753,996 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 56.84% of Costa Rica GDP, a 4.93 percentage point rise from 2018, when it was 51.91% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Costa Rica debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 5,743 million euros 8,011 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 26.03%.
According to the last data point published, Costa Rica per capita debt in 2019 was 6,397 euros7,161 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 5,454 euros 6,441 dollars, afterwards rising by 943 euros720 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,285 euros1,792 dollars .
The position of Costa Rica, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 103 in the list of debt to GDP and 133 in debt per capita, out of the 189 we publish.
