In 2016 Costa Rica public debt was 23,476 million euros 25,986 million dollars, has increased 3,0633,338 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 44.71% of Costa Rica GDP, a 3.88 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 40.83% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Costa Rica debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 5,984 million euros 7,514 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 33.16%.
According to the last data point published, Costa Rica per capita debt in 2016 was 4,782 euros5,294 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 4,208 euros 4,669 dollars, afterwards rising by 574 euros625 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,398 euros1,756 dollars .
The position of Costa Rica, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 87 in the list of debt to GDP and 126 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
