In 2018 Costa Rica public debt was 27,404 million euros 32,364 million dollars, has increased 2,1663,852 million since 2017.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 53.55% of Costa Rica GDP, a 4.96 percentage point rise from 2017, when it was 48.59% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Costa Rica debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 5,052 million euros 7,430 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 24.09%.
According to the last data point published, Costa Rica per capita debt in 2018 was 5,457 euros6,444 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 5,082 euros 5,741 dollars, afterwards rising by 375 euros703 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,147 euros1,687 dollars .
The position of Costa Rica, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 104 in the list of debt to GDP and 130 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
