Lithuania, maintains its electricity among the cheapest in Europe

The average price of electricity in Lithuania, in December of 2008, has been 0.0865€ per kilowatt hour. Electricity price has increased € 0.0005 kWh, 0.58% since the last semester. Meanwhile, the average price of electricity without taxes in Lithuania in that period was € 0.0732 per kilowatt hour, compared to € 0.0729 kWh in the previous semester. The price of electricity excluding taxes increased by 0.41%.

In the last twelve months the price of electricity in Lithuania has fallen by 0.68%.

From 2007 until now, the highest price of electricity in Lithuania has been € 0.087 kWh, in December of 2007, while in June of 2008, electricity price was € 0.086 kWh, its minimum price in this period.

Lithuania is the third country with the cheapest electricity in Europe.

Finally, if we compare the price of electricity with taxes and without taxes, we see that, in the last period, households paid € 0.0133 of taxes for each kilowatt hour, which means that 15.28% of what households pay for the electricity are taxes.
