In Papua New Guinea, CO2 emissions during 2021 have grown 0.184 megatons, 2.88% compared to 2020.
CO2 emissions in 2021 were 6.571 megatons, making Papua New Guinea is the 56th conutry in the ranking of countries for CO2 emissions, made up of 184 countries, in which the countries are ranked from least to most pollutant.
In addition to its total emissions of CO2 into the atmospher, which logically depend, among other variables, on the country's population, it is convenient to analyze the behavior of its emissions per inhabitant. In the table we see that per capita CO2 emissions in Papua New Guinea, have increased in 2021, in which they have been 0.74 tons per inhabitant.
Finally, it is interesting to observe the behavior f CO2 emissions per 1000 dollars of GDP, which measures, for the same country, the "environmental efficiency" with which it is produced over time. In the last period, Papua New Guinea, has emitted 0.18 kilos for every $ 1,000 of GDP, the same as in 2020.
In the table we can see the evolution of CO2 emissions, which have grown since 2011, as have per capita emissions and, on the contrary, CO2 emissions per $ 1,000 of GDP.
Total carbon dioxide emissions have also increased in the last five years, although in this period at least per capita emissions have been reduced.
