In Palau, CO2 emissions during 2021 have grown 0.048 megatons, 3.76% compared to 2020.
CO2 emissions in 2021 were 1.324 megatons, making Palau is in the group of low-polluting countries, mainly due to its small population, within the ranking of countries for CO2 emissions, made up of 184 countries, in which the countries are ranked from least to most pollutant.
In addition to its total emissions of CO2 into the atmospher, which logically depend, among other variables, on the country's population, it is convenient to analyze the behavior of its emissions per inhabitant. In the table we see that per capita CO2 emissions in Palau, have increased in 2021, in which they have been 60.17 tons per inhabitant.
Although its global emissions are not relevant, Palau is the country that pollutes the most with CO2 per inhabitant.
Finally, it is interesting to observe the behavior f CO2 emissions per 1000 dollars of GDP, which measures, for the same country, the "environmental efficiency" with which it is produced over time. In the last period, Palau, has emitted 5.7 kilos for every $ 1,000 of GDP, more than in 2020. Palau is the least efficient country in environmental terms, since it is the one that emits the most CO2 per $ 1,000 of GDP.
In the table we can see the evolution of CO2 emissions, which have decreased since 2011, as have per capita emissions and as well as CO2 emissions per $ 1,000 of GDP.However, in the last five years total emissions have increased, as have emissions per capita, then the situation in the short term is getting worse.
