By 2008, suicides in Uganda increased by 57 people to at 2,160 suicides In 2008, on average 6 Ugandans committed suicide every day.

In Uganda there were 7.56 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,160 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 1,509 were men suicides and 651 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.06 per 100,000 men and for women 4.2 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Uganda. However, in Uganda in 2008 there were there were 2,793 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.3 homicides per suicide.
