Turkmenistan - Intentional self-harm

By 2009, suicides in Turkmenistan increased by 38 people to at 481 suicides In Turkmenistan, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Turkmenistan there were 9.28 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 481 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 367 were men suicides and 113 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.37 per 100,000 men and for women 4.31 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Turkmenistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 203 homicides in Turkmenistan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.4 suicides.
