Suicides decreased in Turkmenistan

In 2008 around 519 suicides occurred in Turkmenistan, 27 less than in 2007. In Turkmenistan, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Turkmenistan reported 10.18 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 519 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 404 were men suicides and 115 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.06 per 100,000 men and for women 4.46 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Turkmenistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 203 homicides in Turkmenistan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.6 suicides.
