Suicides fell in Trinidad and Tobago

By 2009, suicides in Trinidad and Tobago increased by 52 people to at 135 suicides

In Trinidad and Tobago there were 10.21 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 135 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 111 were men suicides and 23 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.11 per 100,000 men and for women 3.29 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Trinidad and Tobago. However, in Trinidad and Tobago in 2009 there were there were 507 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 3.8 homicides per suicide.
