Peru has a low suicide rate

In 1999 around 241 suicides occurred in Peru, 82 less than in 1998.

Peru reported 0.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 14.31 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Peru has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 241 recorded suicide cases in 1999, 156 were men suicides and 85 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 1.2 per 100,000 men and for women 0.6 per 100,000 female.
