Paraguay - Intentional self-harm

In 2009 occurred 601 suicides in Paraguay, the same people committed suicide than in 2008. In Paraguay, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Paraguay had 9.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 601 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 406 were men suicides and 196 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.12 per 100,000 men and for women 6.92 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Paraguay. However, in Paraguay in 2009 there were there were 821 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.4 homicides per suicide.
