Nepal - Intentional self-harm

By 2009, suicides in Nepal increased by 14 people to at 1,817 suicides In 2009, on average 5 Nepali committed suicide every day.

In Nepal there were 6.76 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,817 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 950 were men suicides and 866 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.17 per 100,000 men and for women 6.29 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Nepal suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 806 homicides in Nepal, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.3 suicides.
