Of the 1,111 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 918 were men suicides and 193 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 62 per 100,000 men and for women 11.2 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Lithuania suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 298 homicides in Lithuania, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.7 suicides.
