Lithuania has a very high suicide rate

In 1985 occurred 1,210 suicides in Lithuania. This year, 37 more people committed suicide than in 1982. In 1985, on average 3 Lithuanians committed suicide every day.

Lithuania had 34.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.74 suicides per 100,000 people.

Lithuania has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,210 recorded suicide cases in 1985, 968 were men suicides and 242 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 58 per 100,000 men and for women 12.9 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
