Suicides decreased in Kyrgyzstan

In 2004 around 514 suicides occurred in Kyrgyzstan, 28 less than in 2003. In Kyrgyzstan, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Kyrgyzstan reported 10.13 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 514 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 425 were men suicides and 89 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.08 per 100,000 men and for women 3.39 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kyrgyzstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 419 homicides in Kyrgyzstan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.2 suicides.
