Hungary has the highest suicide rate in the world

In 1961 around 2,552 suicides occurred in Hungary, 59 more than in 1960. In 1961, on average 7 Hungarians committed suicide every day.

Hungary reported 25.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.25 suicides per 100,000 people.

Hungary has the highest suicide rate in the world.

Of the 2,552 recorded suicide cases in 1961, 1,758 were men suicides and 794 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 36.3 per 100,000 men and for women 15.3 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
