Honduras - Intentional self-harm

In 2008 occurred 299 suicides in Honduras. This year, 2 fewer people committed suicide than in 2007.

Honduras had 3.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 299 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 190 were men suicides and 109 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.65 per 100,000 men and for women 2.72 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Honduras. However, in Honduras in 2008 there were there were 4,455 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 14.9 homicides per suicide.
