Of the 11,139 recorded suicide cases in 1997, 8,099 were men suicides and 3,040 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 27.9 per 100,000 men and for women 9.9 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In France suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 963 homicides in France, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.6 suicides.
