Finland had 23.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.84 suicides per 100,000 people.
Finland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,228 recorded suicide cases in 1998, 962 were men suicides and 266 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 38.3 per 100,000 men and for women 10.1 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Finland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 113 homicides in Finland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 10.9 suicides.
