Of the 1,970 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 1,351 were men suicides and 619 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.18 per 100,000 men and for women 1.5 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Egypt suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 967 homicides in Egypt, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2 suicides.
