Cyprus - Intentional self-harm

In 2008 occurred 42 suicides in Cyprus. This year, 23 more people committed suicide than in 2007.

Cyprus had 5.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 42 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 32 were men suicides and 10 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.3 per 100,000 men and for women 2.5 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cyprus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 9 homicides in Cyprus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.7 suicides.
