Cambodia - Intentional self-harm

In 2008 occurred 1,552 suicides in Cambodia. This year, 87 more people committed suicide than in 2007. In 2008, on average 4 Cambodians committed suicide every day.

Cambodia had 11.13 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,552 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 968 were men suicides and 584 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.05 per 100,000 men and for women 8.28 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cambodia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 333 homicides in Cambodia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.7 suicides.
