By 2009, suicides in Afghanistan increased by 1 people to at 1,410 suicides In 2009, on average 4 Afghans committed suicide every day.

In Afghanistan there were 5.98 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,410 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 1,133 were men suicides and 277 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.2 per 100,000 men and for women 2.04 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Afghanistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,115 homicides in Afghanistan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.3 suicides.
