The minimum wage goes up in Mexico

In 2003, the national minimum wage in Mexico remained fixed at €115.3 per month, that is 1,384 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Mexican pesos, which is the official currency in Mexico, we can see that, this year, it was 1,263.2 Mexican pesos and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 54.4 Mexican pesos per month from the previous year, 4.5%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2002 which was 5.7%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Mexico is in 36 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 72 of the list.
