There are 31 suicides per day in Ukraine

In 2009 around 11,154 suicides occurred in Ukraine, 10 more than in 2008. In 2009, on average 31 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.

Ukraine reported 24.36 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 11,154 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 9,162 were men suicides and 1,992 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 43.41 per 100,000 men and for women 8.07 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,240 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5 suicides.
